Help Thank Those who Serve our Scouting Youth

Dear BSA Unit Leaders, Committee Chairs, ASMs, Den Leaders, Commissioners, District Operating Committee Members, and other great Twin Valley Leaders,

Throughout the year, you and the other adults in your units provide outstanding scouting programs to your youth.  While none of us look for recognition in our work, it is important that we take time to thank each other for work that is outstanding.  On May 7, 2022, our Twin Valley District will hold its 61st Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner to thank leaders who have provided service to youth in BSA units throughout the Tri-Valley area.  At this time, we are looking for nominations from you and other adults throughout units and the district to provide this thanks and recognition.  We are currently taking award nominations through April 2, 2022.

This year we have multiple ways to conveniently nominate someone for Unit, Unsung Hero, Scouting Family, “Spark Plug,” and for this year only, EPIC! (Exceptional Perseverance in spite of Crisis) award nominations. Please see the attached forms for descriptions of each of these.

  1. Use the online form found here.
  2. Download the this pdf-fillable document and email it to [email protected].
  3. Bring a completed, printed form to our District Roundtables in February or March, and give to Phil Weiss.
  4. You can deliver a printed form to Phil Weiss by mail to 5530 Scenic Ave, Livermore, CA 94551

For District Award of Merit nominations, complete the BSA form here and use methods 2, 3, or 4 above.

All forms soon can be found on the Twin Valley District website: https://twinvalley.ggacbsa.org

You’ll see that there are many awards for which adults may be nominated. There are even categories such as the “Unsung Hero,” “Spark Plug,” “Scouting Family,” and “EPIC!” awards that each unit can recommend one or more individuals to receive. Instructions on how to submit nominations are located on the forms.

I ask that you please consider using this recognition method to thank those in your units or serving our District who are making a difference in the lives of our youth either through direct or indirect support.  Please pass this message on throughout your units and provide at least one nomination (or more!) for adults in your unit by the April 2nd deadline. It only takes a few minutes to nominate a great volunteer, but the thanks provided lasts a lifetime.

In Scouting service,

Phil Weiss
Twin Valley District Award Co-Coordinator
